Tent City Tacoma (TCT) is a self-governed temporary homeless camp. Some of the activists in TCT have had experiences in other tent cities. Other are homeless people who moved into the Occupy Tacoma encampment in 2011 and 2012 and became aware of the power of self government and self help.
The mission of Tent City Tacoma is to provide gathering places for the homeless to receive services and empower themselves to become productive members of society through community involvement and education. Residents are responsible for sanitation, security, and being good neighbors and assets to the community.
Tent City Tacoma is a self-governed, nondenominational and nonpartisan camp for the homeless. TCT encourages residents to empower themselves, to rebuild their lives through community involvement, community action, and education.
