Meeting Discussion: We gave a brief overview of our project for the benefit of the 3 new people. Topics discussed were the history of TCT (Tent City Tacoma), its origins in OT (Occupy Tacoma), and our month-long efforts in getting the city to draft an appropriate code. We discussed the letters we had sent out, how these led to our last public meeting. We also discussed financing and how we could collect tax-deductable donations. We talked about us acquiring 501C3 status versus having someone with 501C3 status to act as our fiduciary agent.

We will send the list of churches that Harry gave us to Cheryl and Cindy. The task will be to get sites or churches talking about potential hosting sites. After that, we have another meeting with people from Seattle and see about fundraising. We set a goal of October for having our first site.

We also discussed the issue of tents versus more permanent housing rather extensively. We agreed that tents was a temporary solution, not a permanent one, and that the crisis of homelessness must be addressed from several angles. Tent City Tacoma is focused on tents.
